Dear Wildwater Racers and Friends:

This issue of the update features a great recap of the U.S. experience at the 2002 Wildwater Worlds by canoeist Chris Osment. The U.S. had some great showings, especially by Andrew McEwan, Tom Wier and an encouraging finish by up-and-comer Simon Beardmore.

Next we turn our attention to the U.S. National Championships on West Virginia's New River, hosted by veteran race organizer Donnie Hudspeth who brings us the tenth year of the "Animal" Upper Gauley downriver race this fall. He carries considerable clout in our sport and we thank him for being such a tireless advocate for Wildwater and the exceptional race venues in West Virginia.

We also thank this year's National Championships sponsors, without which none of this would be as stellar a gathering as we expect to attend this great event. Make sure to click on the links below and return the support!

See you at Nationals!

Michael Beavers
