Dear Wildwater Racers and Friends:

The World Cup Races are happening. Race #1 was held on May 15 and Race #2 on May 18. Check out the article in the links below. Races 3-6 are scheduled for May 21-22 in Ireland and May 28-29 in Wales. You can see the complete schedule at www.bala2006.org.uk/schedule.htm.

Let's not forget our great Juniors. The eastern contingent of USA junior team was determined at the Eastern Junior Team Trials on the Nantahala River in March. The remainder of the team will be decided at the Western Junior Team Trials on the Arkansas River in June. The junior team will represent the USA at the Junior World Championships (to be held July 28-31 on the Noche River in the Val De Sole region of the Italian Alps).

Not be out done, a team of our top wildwater races has received a Shipton-Tilman grant to help finance their plans to explore the entire length of the Inylchek Glacier and Sarydzhaz/Ku-mu-a-li-k'o Rivers in Kyrgyzstan.

Check out the articles in this issue for more about all of these activities.
