Dear Wildwater Racers and Friends:

The Chute the Hooch Training Camp and Race was a great success. Read all about it and check out the photos and video in the first article in this edition of the USAWildwsater E-zine.

Next up is the NRC Glacier Breaker Race on February 23-24. The first day is the slalom race, but I'm sure that there will be several wildwater racers practicing for the Wildwater Classic Race that will be held the next day (the 24th). The second article has some general information about the race and a link to the schedule and registration form. I hope that you will be there for another chance to hone your skills in a competitive environment in preparation for the USA Senior and Eastern Junior Team Trials.

We also bring you news about the 2008 ACA Whitewater Open Canoe Downriver Nationals. They will be held on the French Broad River near Hot Springs, NC in July. See the article for nore information.

On the international scene, we are please to announce that the International Canoe Federation has designated 3 USA venues as international races for 2008-2009. They are the 2008 USA Wildwater National Championships, the 2009 USA Wildwater National Championships, and the 2009 Fibark Classic Downriver Race. We look forward to having international racers at these events.

Race Director Seth Eisner is working hard on the organization for the USA Senior and Eastern Junior Team Trials. We had hoped to have more information about the event in this newsletter, but there are a few details that still need to be ironed out. Watch for another E-Zine in the near future with more information - including the preliminary schedule, registration details and the selection criteria for the 2008 USA Senior and Junior Wildwater Teams. We will also include news about the international events in which the USA Senior and Junior Teams will represent the USA.

While you are at it, please review the Wildwater calendar for this year ( www.usawildwater.com/races/2008RaceSchedule.pdf) and let me know if I should add any races and/or training camps that I may have missed.
