Dear Wildwater Racers and Friends:

It's getting close to the end of 2008 and our wildwater calendar shows that there are no more races scheduled for this year. This newsletter is a bit sparse, but it contains some important inforamaation.

First on the agenda is the (Almost Final) 2008 U.S. Wildwater Rankings. Gathering the data and figuring out how to compute the rankings has been interesting - and quite ofter frustrating. The calculations were the easy part; getting the results was and continues to be a challenge. The preliminary rankings can be found at www.usawildwater.com/news/2008/preliminary_rankings.pdf. The last page of the file includes a description of the methodology that was used to calculate the rankings. This methodology was published in an article on July 2nd, so it should not be new news to anyone. If you are wondering which races are included in the rankings, look at the second column in the 2008 Wildwater Calendar. It contains an asterisk for each event for which I have results. You have until December 31st to let me know where I can find any missing results and to send me any issues that you may have with the rankings.

In more exciting news, we have information about the first event on our 2009 Calendar. It's the Fifth Annual Chute the Hooch Training Camp being organized by John Pinyerd. We also have the results from the 2008 Green Race, a link to the Wildwater Technique video from Wildwater TV Italia and the minutes of the November 3rd Wildwater Committee Meeting. You might be especially interested in the last item as it contains information about the 2009 Junior Team Trials.

Thanks for your support.
